HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION
 
Heath Effects
Acute - Swallowed Ingestion will result in gastrointestinal upset. Data suggests that product should be regarded as moderately toxic by ingestion. Higher pH products may be corrosive to mucous membranes and the gastrointestinal tract.
Acute - Eye  May cause irreparable damage if not treated immediately. May cause severe eye irritation with potential for permanent injury or blindness via prolonged exposure.
Acute - Skin If at high temperature may cause chemical and/or thermal burns. Skin and mucous membrane irritation possible.
Acute - Inhaled   Inhalation may cause irritation of nose and mucous membranes, coughing and chest discomfort. This is an unlikely route of entry in normal commercial / industrial usage.
Chronic Prolonged exposure may result in burns to exposed areas.
 

FIRST AID
 
Swallowed DO NOT induce vomiting. If patient is conscious rinse mouth to remove as much free product as possible and give a glass of water to drink. Guard against aspiration into the lungs. Consult a physician or Poisons Information Centre immediately.
Eye  Flush eyes thoroughly with water immediately and continue for at least twenty minutes. DO NOT attempt to remove contact lenses unless properly trained. Transport to Doctor or Hospital immediately.
Skin Remove contaminated clothing and wash affected body areas with copious quantities of water. A light acid (eg vinegar, lemon juice or cola drink) may be used to neutralise the alkaline nature of the product. If effects persist seek medical attention.
Inhaled Remove from exposure. If effects occur seek medical attention.
First Aid Facilities Ensure an eye bath and safety shower are available and ready for use.

PRECAUTIONS FOR USE
 
Exposure Standards No exposure standard has been established by Worksafe Australia for this material.
A blanket limit of 10mg/m3 exists for inspirable dusts or mists not otherwise specified.
Engineering Controls DEEPSEAL FORMULA has a relatively low toxicity, ventilation is not a necessity. However, satisfactory airflow must be maintained in the work place.
Personal Protection Wear rubber or PVC gloves and impervious clothing to prevent exposure to skin. If mist is generated, wear and approved respirator, eg. Wilson Respirator with T20 filter or equivalent. Wash hands and face thoroughly after handling and before work breaks, eating, drinking, smoking and using toilet facilities.
Flammability Non-flammable.

Storage and Transport   Store in containers that prevent free circulation of air. Store at temperature of between 0 to 40 degrees Celsius. No special transport requirements. Store in a cool, dry area away from acids. Keep from freezing.

Spills and Disposal
Spills Slippery when spilt – avoid accidents.  Increase ventilation.  Evacuate all unnecessary personnel.  Wear protective clothing to minimise skin and eye exposure.  If possible contain large spills, absorb with inert absorbent such as vermiculite, sand or dirt and place in suitably labelled steel container.  Mop up material and place in to the same container. Clean-up personnel should wear protective clothing to minimise contact. Care should be taken not to walk on spillage as surface becomes slippery.
Wash spill site with hot water.
Disposal 

Dispose of in accordance with all Local, State and Federal regulations at an approved waste disposal facility, or reuse material.

   
Fire Explosions Hazard
Fire/Explos. Hazard Non-flammable. Non-explosive. Hazardous polymerisation has not been reported. Material is stable. Incompatible with strong acids (such as hydrochloric, nitric and sulphuric) - heat reaction may be violent. Incompatible with aluminium metal (may corrode aluminium containers).
Extinguishing Media  Fire-fighters should wear full protective clothing including self-contained breathing apparatus. Use equipment/media appropriate to surrounding fire conditions.
